Mine was properly remapped and not with a plug in box which means it is allegedly better for the engine and more reliable. You will always see claims of "20%+ better MPG". If it's a 1.6 D4FB diesel engine, it is a chain and there's 2 chains. Regular oil changes will help the lifespan of those components but eventually it will get noisy mainly the guides and tensioners will wear first. If it's not noisy I would not be concerned.
